Health Risks
Prolonged exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust can lead to serious health issues, including:

Silicosis: A lung disease that causes scarring and reduces the lungs’ ability to take in oxygen.
Lung Cancer: Long-term exposure to silica dust can increase the risk of lung cancer.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): A group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties.

Kidney Disease: There is evidence that silica exposure can also affect kidney function.

Safety Measures

To reduce your exposure to silica dust:

Use Respiratory Protection: Always wear a properly fitted respirator approved for protection against crystalline silica dust.
Wet Cutting Methods: Use wet cutting or other methods that minimize dust creation.
Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the workspace to reduce dust accumulation.
Dust Control: Use dust collection systems where available and clean up dust regularly using wet methods or a vacuum with a HEPA filter.
