After bonding or lamination, a minimum drying period of 24 hours is required before any cutting, machining, or exposure to water. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, high humidity, or sub-zero temperatures during curing. Always use clean tools and apply even pressure to ensure full contact. We provide every GMI customer with a 10 year limited warranty on all of our Sintera Surfaces materials. The option to repair or replace the material is at the sole discretion of Genuine Materials Inc. Please be informed that our material color or design may vary from our website photos or samples. The GMI customer is responsible to do a visual inspection of all materials at the time of pick up or delivery. Our warranty will not cover: Chips around the edges Surface scratches (highly scratch resistant but not scratch proof) Polish marks Color variances (matching) The customer is responsible to do a visual inspection of the material at the time of pick up or delivery, and again prior to fabrication (if matching is needed). GMI will not cover improper installation or fabrication of material by an installer / fabricator. GMI will not cover product mishandling, improper care and/or maintenance: Chemical abuse Improper use of material once installed Impact / physical damage Damages during transit Damage caused while material is stored GMI will not cover damage resulting from: Flooring application Exposure to direct sunlight Extreme heat / Thermal shock Outdoor application Extreme weather conditions Exposure to UV light WARNING: Cutting or polishing stone products without water and a face mask can be extremely hazardous. The dust created during this process can cause serious respiratory problems, including lung cancer, silicosis, and other lung diseases. Always use water and wear a face mask when cutting or polishing stone products to minimize the risk of dust exposure. Failure to use water during the cutting or polishing process can result in serious injury or death. This 10 year limited warranty does not apply if the care and maintenance we have recommended is not adhered to. SAFE FABRICATION & HANDLING GUIDE Comprehensive Safety Guidelines for Fabricators and Installers Guía Integral de Seguridad para Fabricadores e Instaladores INTRODUCTION / INTRODUCCIÓN Genuine Materials Inc. is committed to promoting the health and safety of all fabricators, installers, and partners who work with our surface materials — including porcelain, sintered stone, terrazzo, hybrid slabs, and engineered materials. While many of our products are designed to be zero-silica or low-silica, improper cutting, grinding, or dry handling of any surface material can still produce airborne dust that may be harmful if inhaled. This guide summarizes best practices for safe fabrication and installation, following recommendations from OSHA, Cal/OSHA, NIOSH, and other global occupational safety authorities. Every shop, warehouse, and job site should adopt these principles to ensure the long-term health of all workers. Always use wet methods (wet saws, water-fed polishers, misting attachments) to reduce dust release. Avoid dry cutting or dry polishing entirely. Install local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems with dust shrouds and hoses directly connected to HEPA vacuums. Maintain air monitoring records to verify exposure levels are below OSHA’s permissible exposure limit (PEL) for respirable crystalline silica (50 µg/m³ over 8 hours). Keep dust-producing areas isolated from office or storage zones. Wear cut-resistant gloves, long-sleeved shirts, and heavy-duty work pants to protect against lacerations. Use steel-toe boots with non-slip soles to prevent crushing injuries. For prolonged machine use, wear ear protection (earmuffs or earplugs). Train workers in correct donning, fitting, and maintenance of PPE. Replace filters regularly. Keep water pressure sufficient to suppress dust but not so high that it splashes contaminated slurry. Capture runoff with settling basins or filters to prevent drain contamination. Inspect water nozzles daily to ensure they are not clogged. Never recirculate water without proper filtration to remove fine particulates. Always move slabs in vertical orientation using A-frames and ratchet straps. Inspect lifting clamps, slings, and vacuum lifters before each use. Never lift a slab by hand if it exceeds 80 lbs (36 kg) per person. Store slabs securely on level ground to prevent tipping. Keep walkways clear of debris and water to avoid slipping. Keep clean work areas, changing rooms, and designated “clean zones” for eating or breaks. Wash hands and face thoroughly before drinking, smoking, or eating. Maintain written exposure control plans (ECP) and make them accessible to workers. Report all respiratory symptoms immediately to supervisors. We provide every GMI customer with a 10 year limited warranty on our Porcelain materials. The option to repair or replace the material is at the sole discretion of Genuine Materials Inc. Please be informed that our material color or design may vary from our website photos or samples. GMI customer is responsible to do a visual inspection of all materials at the time of pick up or delivery. 1. Warranty Coverage Genuine Materials Inc. warrants that all porcelain products are free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service conditions. 2. Warranty Duration This warranty is valid for a limited period of time, 10 years, from the date of purchase. 3. Proper Uses of Porcelain Slabs Porcelain slabs are designed for the following applications: Countertops: Ideal for kitchen and bathroom surfaces due to their durability and resistance to heat and moisture. Backsplashes: Suitable for kitchen and bathroom backsplashes, providing both aesthetic appeal and easy maintenance. Wall Cladding: Can be used for interior and exterior wall applications, offering a stylish and weather-resistant finish. Flooring: Recommended for residential and commercial flooring where high traffic and durability are required. Tabletops and Furniture: Can be used for tabletops and other furniture items that require a sturdy, easy-to-clean surface. 4. What is Not Covered This warranty does not cover: Improper installation or fabrication by an installer / fabricator Improper use and/or maintenance of the product, or failure to follow recommended maintenance and care guidelines Damage resulting from improper installation or handling Any act or omission which might be reasonably expected to damage the product, including but not limited to; falling objects, abuse, neglect, fire, exposure to extreme temperature, or accident Normal wear and tear Normal design or color variation from samples or website photos 5. Limitation of Liability Genuine Materials Inc. shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages resulting from the use of the porcelain products. This 10 year limited warranty does not apply if the care and maintenance we have recommended is not adhered to. To protect the health and safety of all workers, Genuine Materials Inc. strongly recommends that all fabrication and installation activities be conducted with proper safety measures in place. Recommended safety practices include: Always use wet cutting, grinding, or polishing methods to reduce airborne dust. Maintain adequate ventilation and local exhaust systems in fabrication areas. Wear NIOSH-approved respirators and personal protective equipment (PPE). Provide regular training and health monitoring for employees handling stone or engineered materials. Follow all applicable safety standards under Cal/OSHA and Federal OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1153 (Respirable Crystalline Silica Rule).
